Computer Science Students' Community

The Computer Science Students’ Community of the University of Ruhuna is a community of tech enthusiast students doing their bachelor’s degree in the field of Computer Science. The community is under the able guidance of the Department of Computer Science. With the sole motive of adding value to the undergraduate studies of students, the community organizes various sessions, events, competitions, and workshops. The following are some events successfully conducted by the community.


RUSH CODER V2.0

The biggest and signature event organized by the Computer Science Students’ Community of University of Ruhuna. This is a 24-hour hackathon where teams with different start-up ideas get-together and develop, pitch and ultimately get feedback from experts of the industry. Rush Coder V1.0 was held 11th and 12th of August 2018 while Rush Coder V2.0 was conducted on the 4th and 5th of January 2020.

BATTLE CODE V1.0

A virtual robotics hackathon organized by the Computer Science Students’ Community of University of Ruhuna. The inaugural BattleCode competition was held as an intra-university contest where teams from different faculties of the university competed on the 27th of July 2019 in the Department of Computer Science.

GOOGLE I/O'19 RUHUNA REWIND

A re-event of Google’s annual I/O event was held in the University of Ruhuna as the Computer Science Students’ Community took the lead in bringing it down to Ruhuna in collaboration with GDG Sri Lanka. Event was hold on the 29th of June 2019 in the Department of Computer Science with the participation of several distinguished speakers and tech enthusiast students from different faculties of the university.

RUSH CODER V1.0

In case you didn’t know, Rush Coders v1.0 is the first of a hackathon series that was organized by the Department of Computer Science in the University of Ruhuna. Initially aimed as an intra university hackathon, Rush Coder 2018 would later be developed into an inter-university event. On the 11th and 12th of August 2018, Rush Coder v1.0 took place at University of Ruhuna. A total of 18 teams took part in Rush Coders v1.0, with 3 teams being picked as the winners.
