  • 1.Received a Scholarship Award for a PhD (split PhD program) under the Human Resources Development (HRD) Program of the HETC (Higher Education for the Twenty First Century) Project, Sri Lanka, 2011.
  • 2.Received an honorary academic appointment as a Visiting Fellow for two years in the School of Computing, Engineering and Mathematics, University of Western Sydney, Australia (www.uws.edu.au), 2012 to 2014.
  • 3.Received a NRC (National Research Council) Merit Award for the scientific research published in the year 2015. Awarded journal article is : User Centered Ontology for Sri Lankan Farmers, published in Ecological Informatics 2015, Elsevier, 26(2), 140-150 (2015).
  • 4. Received the Best Paper Award presented to paper titled "Ontology Quality Evaluation Methodology" authored by R. Shyama I. Wilson, Jeevani Goonetillake, Athula Ginige, Walisadeera Anusha Indika. In recognition of your outstanding contribution in the 22th International Conference on Computational Science and Applications (ICCSA 2022) and its associated workshops, held in collaboration with the University of Malaga, Spain, July 4 - 7, 2022.
  • 5. Received the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Highest Recipient of Grants at the 20th Academic Sessions and 19th Vice Chancellor’s Awards Ceremony, held on 07th June 2023. The scholar was awarded for outstanding performance and excellent contributions in the fields of research, invention/innovation, promoting international relations, and contribution to the development of the University.
  • 6. Received APAN Fellowship (Asia Pacific Advanced Network Fellowship) for the APAN56 Meeting and Conference held in Colombo, Sri Lanka from 21st August to 25th August 2023.

  • 11. Won of the Shared Task 02: Developing a Chatbot System with Q&A Support using the RAG Model for Sinhala/Tamil in the Shared Task Competition Towards Building a Sinhala/Tamil Large Language Model. This event, held on November 8th, 2024, was collaboratively organized by UCSC and IIT in parallel with the ICTer 2024 conference.
