Towards Transdisciplinary Research Culture




RISTCON 2014 – 22 & 23 January 2014

RISTCON 2014, the 1st Ruhuna International Science and Technology Conference is organized by the Faculty of Science, University of Ruhuna, Sri Lanka. The conference aims to bring together the interested academics/researchers and research students from Sri Lankan as well as foreign universities/institutes, and to provide them an international platform to share research findings on various themes in Science and Technology. The conference theme has been decided to be broad in order to accommodate as many Science and Technology areas as possible, and to be able to address for technological advances and research findings in multidisciplinary areas.
 

RISTCON 2014 Theme: ‘Towards Transdisciplinary Research Culture’   

RISTCON 2014 will be a premier forum to present and share the research findings of scientists working in life sciences and physical sciences, and technology related disciplines.

The First Ruhuna Science Symposium was organized in 2002 and since then it has been an annual event and the last of which was held in January 2013. The 1st Ruhuna International Science and Technology Conference has evolved in order to open this event for the international scientific community.  By organizing the 1st Ruhuna International Science and Technology Conference on Science and Technology, the year 2014 will be a landmark year for the gradual evolvement of the scientific research culture we experience at the University of Ruhuna. From this landmark event onwards, RISTCON is expected to be an annual international event at the University of Ruhuna.

RISTCON 2014 will host technical sessions including oral and poster presentations of the submitted abstracts, and the authors are invited to send the full paper if they wish to publish in the ‘Ruhuna Journal of Science’, an international peer-reviewed online journal, published twice a year by the Faculty of Science, University of Ruhuna.

The RISTCON 2014 is financed mainly by the funds received through TURIS grant (Transforming University of Ruhuna to International Status) in line with its objective of enhancing the university’s international status, and little other generous sponsorship.
